ChatGPT

Configure Instructionly in ChatGPT, OpenAI's chat interface.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have your MCP credentials.

Configuration

ChatGPT supports MCP servers through its Apps & Connectors feature. This must be configured on the ChatGPT website, not the desktop app. Once configured, it will also be available in the desktop app.

  1. Go to Apps & Connectors > Advanced settings
  2. Enable Developer mode
  3. Go back to Apps & Connectors
  4. Click the + button in the top right corner to create a new app
  5. Fill in the following details:
    • Name: Instructionly
    • Description: AI instruction platform (optional)
    • MCP Server URL: https://mcp.instructionly.io/sse?key=YOUR_MCP_KEY&secret=YOUR_MCP_SECRET&workspace=YOUR_WORKSPACE_SLUG
    • Authentication: Select No Auth
  6. Check the "I understand and want to continue" checkbox
  7. Click Create
Authentication is handled via URL

Select "No Auth" because your credentials are passed as URL parameters. ChatGPT's OAuth option is not needed.

Using Instructionly in ChatGPT

  1. Open a new chat (Developer mode will be shown at the top)
  2. Click the + button in the chat input
  3. Select More, then choose Instructionly
  4. Ask your question including "ion"
